Marcus Bignot proud of ‘legacy’ Solihull Moors are creating

boss Marcus Bignot is confident his side can learn from the last two campaigns and avoid a second-half of the season disappointment.

The Moors have tailed off in the past two seasons after good starts and once again they're setting the pace in the .

Tuesday night's 3-0 win over put Bignot's side four points clear at the summit with games in hand still over their nearest rivals.

The former Birmingham City Ladies' boss is pleased with his club's progress on and off the field and says they're ahead of schedule.

“We've been here before in our previous two seasons, which saw us sit in first place and fifth place going into the second half of those seasons only to see us finish 8th and 12th position respectively,” he told the club's website.

“Last season was a disappointing end as we were evolving the club into a top ten Conference North club so finishing ninth in 2013 and eighth in 2014 you could see the club's disappointment in a 12th-placed finish in 2015.

“Everyone was reminded, though, how we were overachieving season upon season and the league was only getting stronger and stronger. It was only in 2012 that we just about stayed up in 19th place and that was looked upon as a success and achievement in itself.

“The remit at the start of this season was to turn the club over the next two years into genuine play-off contenders. The reasons for this strategy in my time here were that we've flirted with the play-offs for the past three seasons by evolving on the pitch and growing as a club off it.

“We are a club with an infrastructure which offers conferencing, private functions, a cafe, a sports injury clinic, and car parking.

“So although these group of players and its staff will receive many plaudits, I think it's many people's ignorance in as to what they believe are the reasons for this club's rise and why Solihull Moors finds itself where it is now.

“I have no doubt this group of players will achieve their goals for this club, for me the biggest success story will be that of the club in which we've built and the legacy it will create.”
