I READ with great interest Chris Dunlavy’s article (NLP, July 2) about legendary players who don’t become good managers. Over time, many top players have failed to make the grade – Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Alan Shearer and Tony Adams among those mentioned.
Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill started his managerial career in Non-League – a great way to learn your trade and get your hands dirty, so to speak.
