AN EARLY free-kick from Scarborough’s Michael Coulson separated the two sides, with the ball taking a wicked deflection off the wall to leave keeper Harry Stead stranded.
In a tight and evenly balanced affair, Athletic had a second free-kick, which this time Craig Nelthorpe sent just over the crossbar.
It remained 1-0 at the break but the home side did have several good chances, with Adam Shaw going close to scoring.
