The Saints got off to a great start when an effort from Victor Osubu was deflected into the net off an unfortunate defender.
The rest of the half was controlled by the visitors and Carl Dennison made a couple of excellent saves to maintain the lead.
Diamonds equalised just before the half-hour mark when a cross from Joel Gyasi eluded everyone to fly straight in.
An excellent move ten minutes after the restart ended with Jack Mullan heading Chalfont back in front.
