A SUNDAY League game has down down in the hisss-tory books after a SNAKE stopped play.
Hosts Sutton St James were drawing 1-1 with Shouldham in a King’s Lynn & District Sunday League encounter when the reptile slithered on to the pitch and the referee brought play to a halt.
Sutton posted on social media: “Delay in play as the resident snake handler removes a snake from the pitch.”
Once the pitch invader – believed to be a harmless grass snake rather than a poisonous adder – had been removed, play restarted.
