TWO goals in the second half kept Hornchurch in the title hunt on a day Canvey Island stuttered. The home side were made to work hard by Hertford Town, who are making their own bid to be among the sides in the shake-up for the play-off spots come the end of the season.
It was a cagey first half with neither side able to break the deadlock despite plenty of attacking intent. But they made the breakthrough on 66 minutes, with defender Nathan Bertram-Cooper the unlikely hero for the home fans.
