MULLAN IS TNS STAR AS SAINTS LIFT THE MG CUP

THE NEW SAINTS retained the Nathaniel MG Cup after beating Cardiff Met 1-0 in the final at Aberystwyth’s Park Avenue. Jamie Mullan’s 64th-minute winner secured the Saints’ fourth Welsh League Cup victory in a row and manager Scott Ruscoe’s first piece of silverware since replacing Craig Harrison last summer.
The defeat for Cardiff Met may not be the result they wanted, but reaching their first cup final, along with making the top six in both of their first two seasons in the Welsh Premier League, shows how far the university team have come.
