GOWENS BACK AT BAY

WHITLEY BAY legend Andy Gowens has returned to the club, taking the manager’s job until the end of the season.
Gowens made almost 350 appearances for the club in the 80s and 90s and, as manager, led Whitley to their first FA Vase success at Villa Park in 2002.
Gowens replaces Mark Nash, who left the club to take over at North Shields last month. He will be assisted by Mick Mulhern, who is former manager of Sunderland Ladies and assistant manager of England Womens U23s.
