GATESHEAD were indebted to goalkeeper James Montgomery for a share of the spoils against Dagenham & Redbridge.
Spot-kick specialist Montgomery beat away Jake Howells’ 85th minute penalty to earn his side a first clean sheet in ten games.
The Daggers were the more incisive side in the first half against a Gateshead outfit off the pace.
“Regardless of the penalty we had enough clear-cut chances to win the game,” said Daggers boss John Still.
“The application of the players in difficult circumstances is phenomenal.
