■ NORTH Division leaders South Shields are one step closer to the title after a convincing win over play-off chasers Colwyn Bay.
In front of 1,535 fans, Gavin Cogdon gave them a great start, converting Lee Mason’s cross. Bay found themselves reduced to ten men when keeper Matt Cooper fouled the scorer, only for Julio Arca to double the lead from the resulting free-kick. Darren Lough added a third on 37 minutes before Danny Andrews picked up a consolation goal for the travellers.
Robert Briggs completed the rout from the spot ten minutes after the break.
