ALUN PENS DEAL

ALUN ARMSTRONG has committed himself to Blyth Spartans for at least another two years after dismissing interest from three North East rivals. The former Ipswich and Middlesbrough striker was courted by Gateshead, Darlington and Hartlepool United during last season.
While Gateshead opted for former Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa defender Steve Watson, Armstrong had a decision to make on the others.
“The timing and situation wasn’t right,” said Armstrong. “On top of that I enjoy managing Blyth Spartans.”
