A GOALLESS first half belied a game with plenty of passion from both sides.
Ashford had many new signings in their ranks and they will take time to blend.
After the break, the tempo was raised but neither side looked obvious winners.
Hertford opened the score with a spectacular effort by Charlie Ruff after the ball was headed out to him on the edge of the area.
Ashford needed to change their ways if they were to recover and that’s what happened as a simple tap-in from Bradley Wilson, on his debut, after 71 minutes.
