LIKE many good ideas, The Non-League Paper was born from the wreckage of another.
Back in 1998, I had left my job as head of sport at the Daily Express to launch Britain’s answer to L’Equipe, the great daily French sports newspaper.
It was a grandiose plan and after months of beating a path to city investors, millionaire entrepreneur Keith Young, who had conceived the plan, had to admit it wasn’t going to happen seven days a week.
