HEED AVOID A SHOCK

GATESHEAD twice came from behind to overcome Northern League outfit Hebburn Town on South Tyneside.
A close-range brace from veteran former Gateshead forward Graeme Armstrong saw the Heed trail after an hour.
But the injection of young trialists in the second period, saw Gateshead score three times in the final half hour to make their full-time status count.
“There was a bit of everything,” said player/boss Mike Williamson. “A bit of frustration as the quality wasn’t there in the first half but we showed good character to come back.”
