GATESHEAD hit underdogs Ramsbottom for six in their first ever meeting.
The Rams held their own for 25 minutes but crucially shipped two goals before the break.
A devastating spell of three goals inside five minutes then blew the Lancastrians away.
Nic Evangelinos had a chance to put the visitors ahead after the ball broke to him in the box. But the midfielder shot straight at Brad James as Gateshead searched for tempo and rhythm.
