JAMIE Rother’s late goal gave Ramsbottom victory in a hard-fought clash between two promotion- chasing sides.
In a quiet first half, Marine stopper Dan Atherton was forced into a save from Tom Kennedy’s cross.
After the break, James Joyce had to make a goalline clearance to deny Iyrwah Gooden as United came close again.
The home side began to pile on the pressure as the game wore on but struggled to find a way past a resolute Tom Stewart, who pulled off several important saves in the visiting goal.
