GOALS from Alex Hernandez and Martin Tuohy in the last 15 minutes earned Great Wakering the victory.
There had been few chances to either side before that in a match where both sides found possession tricky.
Witham’s Usman Adeniji forced Tim Brown into an early good save at the foot of a post while, at the other end, Rhys Madden dived at the feet of the visitors’ Connor Martin.
A draw looked the most likely of outcomes, but the deadlock was broken in the 75th minute when Fernandez finished from close range.
