ALFRETON showed plenty of spirit to fight back from conceding two sloppy goals, but fell just short.
The writing was on the wall when George Willis was forced into a Gordon Banks-esque claw off the line to give the visitors a corner, which was headed in by Kieran Phillips for the games opener.
It didn’t take long for Phillips to double his tally, finishing off a well-worked counter-attack. And he could’ve had his hat-trick moments later but went for the audacious and his effort was saved by Willis.
