Weymouth awarded win following Easter Monday abandonment against Yeovil

Chelmsford City

Weymouth have been awarded a win against Yeovil Town after the fixture on April 1 was abandoned following a medical emergency.

The Terras were 1-0 up in the National League South local derby before the contest was halted in the 75th minute when Yeovil supporter Hayley Singleton was suddenly taken ill, and required an air ambulance. Ms Singleton has since been discharged and is recovering well.

Following a delay which saw both teams taken off the pitch, it was announced the game had been abandoned.

On Friday, April 12, the National League issued a statement outlining the decision:

“It has been decided that the game is not to be replayed, and the match has been awarded to Weymouth in accordance with League rules.

“Tables will be updated accordingly. Regulations state that while the home club are awarded three points, goals for and against are not to be added.”

The same decision has been reached following Slough Town’s game against Bath City on March 2. Slough were 4-2 ahead when a medical emergency saw the game halted and eventually abandoned.

Slough have been awarded three points but the goals for and against for each side have not been included in the league standings.
