WINGATE & Finchley and Canvey Island shared the points after a tense draw at the Maurice Rebak Stadium, with both sides missing chances to snatch a winner.
Canvey started the stronger, with a fifth-minute attack down the right, but their eventual cross was well blocked.
Wingate countered quickly, linking through midfield before winning an early throw and a corner, though the visitors defended resolutely.
