CANVEY Island put their poor start behind them to win their first game of the season away at Whitehawk.
It was Whitehawk who enjoyed more of the ball in the first half – with Harry Bridle going close midway through the opening period.
Charlie Stimson then broke through on goal for the visitors, but a great save from Josh Shattell denied him. However, it was Canvey who broke the deadlock when Matis Skarna crossed for Max Fiddes to tap in.
