Braintree Town vs Southend United
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Friday, 26 December 2025
There will be a Boxing Day bonanza of National League action on Friday, as Braintree Town and Southend United meet in an all-Essex affair.
The Shrimpers are seeking their first league victory in over a month, having lost their last two games to Forest Green Rovers and Tamworth.
However, they did defeat Truro City 4-0 in the FA Trophy in mid-December.
Kevin Maher’s side were beaten 2-1 at Tamworth, but still sit inside the play-off places in seventh place with a one-point cushion and two games in hand on the chasing pack.
As for Braintree, they delivered a respectable 0-0 draw at home to play-off hopefuls Hartlepool United, leaving them in 19th and only one point above the relegation zone.

Morecambe vs Rochdale
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Friday, 26 December 2025
League leaders Rochdale strive to stretch their lead at the top of the table with a win over resurgent Morecambe.
Jim McNulty’s side look unstoppable right now after recording their sixth straight win in all competitions with a thumping 3-0 win away at Altrincham last Friday.
However, The Dale will know they must guard against complacency when they travel to relegation-threatened Morecambe, who have won their last two without conceding a goal.
Ashvir Singh Johal’s side are now up to 21st after they defeated Brackley Town 2-0 away from home courtesy of a George Thomas brace.

Gateshead vs Carlisle United
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Friday, 26 December 2025
Struggling Gateshead host promotion contenders Carlisle United.
Mark Hughes’ men are in a run of indifferent form that has seen them drift from league leaders Rochdale and are now sitting in fifth, three points adrift of the top.
Crucially, though, the Cumbrians have played three more games than The Dale.
Carlisle’s last outing ended in a 2-0 away defeat to surprise package Boreham Wood, who leapfrogged them to go fourth, thanks to goals from Zak Brunt and Abdul Abdulmalik.
As for Alun Armstrong’s men, they cannot buy a win, having lost their last nine matches in all competitions. Surprisingly, their last triumph was a 2-0 victory away at AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup at the start of November.

Hartlepool United vs Scunthorpe United
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Friday, 26 December 2025
Promotion hopefuls Hartlepool United and Scunthorpe United do battle.
The Iron sit comfortably within the play-off places, but still have an outside chance of lifting the title after an impressive 2-1 win away at Woking – their fourth straight victory in all competitions.
As for The Monkey Hangers, they are looking to end their run of three matches without a win, having been held 0-0 by lowly Braintree Town last Sunday.
It promises to be an intriguing encounter, with the two teams separated by two positions and nine points in the table.

Wealdstone vs Boreham Wood
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Friday, 26 December 2025
The closest and perhaps the most intriguing encounter on Boxing Day comes from Grosvenor Vale as play-off hopefuls Wealdstone welcome surprise package Boreham Wood.
Just over eleven miles separate the two clubs, and it promises to be a close encounter on the pitch, too, with the away side entering the clash as favourites.
The Wood have made easy work of the National League, having only been promoted to the fifth tier last term and sit in fourth position, just two points off top spot.
Luke Garrard’s side are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions, having beaten fellow promotion hopefuls Carlisle United 2-0 last Sunday.
As for The Stones, they have not tasted victory in the league since early November, meaning they have slipped down to 10th.
After a shock defeat to bottom side Truro City, Sam Cox’s men came from two goals down to rescue a precious point away to Halifax Town, which will give them some much-needed confidence heading into this one.

York City vs Boston United
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Friday, 26 December 2025
Goal machines York City host bottom-half outfit Boston United.
After the despair of missing out on promotion last season, Stuart Maynard’s side are on a mission to reach League Two, having won their last seven league games.
Last Saturday, The Minstermen made easy work of bottom-side Truro City, hammering them 4-0 to stay within a point of league leaders Rochdale.
As for Boston, they suffered a painful 2-0 home defeat to relegation-threatened Aldershot Town to leave them four points above the drop zone.
Graham Coughlan’s men will need a Christmas miracle to take anything away from York and are expected to take a stuffing.
