NEITHER side could find a winner after a frenetic and hugely entertaining first half where all four goals were scored.
It took just five minutes for Canvey full-back Ben Steward to unleash a rocket of a shot beyond the hand of Archie Burford to open the scoring for the hosts.
And five minutes later, the Gulls doubled their lead when Matas Skarna’s pin-point cross was turned in from close-range by Zak Hambury.
Suddenly there was belief at Park Lane that Canvey Island could still dig their way out of relegation trouble.
