BEN MURRAY has been handed the chance to manage Southern League Division One Central side Ashford Town.

Murray, who had previously been chief coach of the Middlesex side, take the reins following the departure of Paul Burgess last week.

The Tangerines currently sit bottom of their league with just six points from 17 games.

No time limit has been set on Murray’s term, with the club saying “the situation will be reviewed again in due course”.

The statement announcing his appointment went on to add: “Everyone at the club will wish Ben good fortune in taking on what is currently a very tough task.

“Although we specifically said that the job was not being advertised, at least ten people, some of whom would certainly be welcome at the club, made contact in one way or another and we would like to thank them for their interest.”
