HASTINGS UNITED are searching for a new manager following Garry Wilson's resignation after the club missed out on the Ryman South play-offs.
The U's went into Saturday's last game of the season against Herne Bay knowing a win would be enough to secure fifth place but despite taking the lead, they went on to lose 2-1.
The defeat meant they slipped to seventh as Faversham Town grabbed the last play-off spot and Wilson, alongside assistant Danny Bloor, resigned after the game.
Former Eastbourne Borough boss Wilson took charge of Hastings in the summer after the club just avoided relegation to Step 5.
Despite a much improved league campaign, alongside a memorable Sussex Senior Cup win over League Two side Crawley Town, Wilson has walked away, citing a “combination of personal and footballing reasons”.
A club statement read: “It is with regret that the club must announce that Garry Wilson and Danny Bloor tendered their resignations from their roles as first team manager and assistant manager immediately after the U's last league game of the season, a 2-1 home defeat to Herne Bay that saw them miss out on a place in the Ryman League Division One South play-offs.
“Wilson and Bloor cited a combination of personal and footballing reasons for their decisions to step down, and everyone at the club would like to thank them both for their hard work throughout the 2015-16 season and wish them all the very best for the future.”
