SAM WEDGBURY once told me his job is a piano carrier. Someone who does all the heavy lifting, the sweaty work that goes unnoticed before the curtain draws back and someone else is sitting on the stool playing beautiful music that gets a standing ovation.
Football needs its piano carriers so the players can play. Although you feel the midfielder is somewhat playing down his own talent as a football, it’s not difficult to see why Martin Allen made him one of his first additions at Chesterfield.
