Club legend Jon Challinor says Stamford AFC will always have a special place in his heart after ending his 12-year stay at the Zeeco Stadium.

The 45-year-old has finally called time on his Daniels’ career after making more than 450 appearances for the Southern League Premier Division Central club.

“It’s difficult to put into words what this club has meant to me,” said Challinor, who came through the Lincolnshire club’s academy and also had a spell as caretaker player-manager in 2015.

became more than just a football club — it became home.

“I’ve been lucky enough to share so many memories, battles, victories, disappointments and special moments with incredible team-mates, staff and supporters along the way.”

Challinor also turned out for the likes of Aldershot Town, Exeter and York City, but there was only one place where the England Seniors’ international called home.
