BASINGTOKE TOWN held on to claim the points in a tense finale against Chesham United, despite looking comfortable for most of the game.
It was a fast start as chances came and went for Town’s Aaron Redford, Michael Atkinson and Terence van Cooten and United’s Sam Youngs.
The hosts deservedly broke the deadlock through Ashleigh Artwell who, after a neat exchange with Redford, was put through and he finished coolly under visiting keeper Richard Hayward.
And the Dragons made the perfect start to the second half with two quickfire goals.
