WANTAGE TOWN picked up only their seventh league win of the season as goals from Jack Powell and Mark Francis gave them victory over Slimbridge. It was only the Alfredians’ third success on home soil this campaign, and they stay second bottom, with only Bridgwater Town below them.
Slimbridge had the better of a cagey opening period, but Powell’s goal four minutes before half-time gave the home side the advantage. And Wantage doubled their lead three minutes after the break through skipper Francis.
