REX MANNINGS grabbed the only goal as Frome were pushed all the way by a youthful Mangotsfield line-up.
The goal came after 63 minutes when Kane Simpson created space and fed Mannings to poke home.
It was Simpson himself who had come closest to opening the scoring until then, having one effort hacked away and then seeing another fly narrowly over the bar.
There was almost an immediate equaliser as a mix-up in the Frome defence required James Carey to make a smart save to preserve the lead.
