How The NLFA & The Opus Group Are Helping Non-League Players

nlfaopus

I am delighted to announce that The Non-League Footballers Association has been able to launch an extremely valuable service for Non-League footballers:

1) The NLFA Tax Rebate Service

The NLFA has partnered with a leading Chartered Financial Planning and Chartered Accountancy group, the Opus Group, to deliver services to you. As you will be aware, in April, you have to file a tax return to HMRC. Opus Group has agreed to help you in doing this, so no fines and lateness and no payment to them up-front. They can also help you understand things about claiming back for possible things you wouldn’t realise you can claim for and that means more financial benefit to you:

– Travel to and from away games

– Boots

– Clothing

– Coaching and more…

Why do we need this now?

To get the most benefit, it will take time to file. Government law says we have to file reports, if you get paid for playing or travelling, your club will claim that they have paid you and you will need to show this in your tax return. Let the experts help you.

Why use the NLFA?

The NLFA have negotiated an extremely low all-inclusive fee for Non-League players and members of the NLFA with The Opus Group in order to soften the blow of a large payment to a broker for this service or even a fine from HRMC. They will not charge anything up-front; they get their payment when you get paid. Opus Group is an extremely co-operative company and will also be able to help you with all other financial services you require. If you have two jobs then you’ll need advice on the tax codes etc. or a pension fund which you may have paid into and not heard from for a while. They can help you. Join the NLFA at www.thenlfa.com and get your membership for ‘FREE’ and please contact Lee Axford of Opus on 07971 277369

Yours sincerely,

Dean Holdsworth

Chief Executive of the Non-League Footballers Association

  • I’m not finished just yet – at 50!

Goal-den oldie Jamie Cureton turns 51 at the end of August, but he’s still keen to keep on playing – and has one more milestone in his sights.

  • Greens were left in awe of Genchev

HIGH PROFILE: Jordan Hugill has joined Hartlepool I HAVE fond memories of Boncho Genchev (NLP, June 14). His first goal for Hendon was an overhead scissors kick 15 minutes into his first start. His infectious attitude lightened the dressing room and endeared him to younger players, who were in awe...

  • Clark’s given us Pools’ fans hope

LEE Clark has only had his feet in the door at Hartlepool United for five minutes and already he’s making a big impression. High-profile summer signings such as Jordan Hugill, Jack Nolan and Corey McKeown have raised eyebrows in National League circles, and with the turbulent Raj Singh reign over...

  • Our great clubs need protecting

AM I alone in being concerned about the number of clubs, particularly at Steps 5/6, either taking voluntary relegation or, worse still, being forced to pull out of senior football altogether. This year, we’ve seen a number of clubs step aside from the National League System – with Pilkington FC...
