Chatham Town are looking for a new manager despite topping the Southern Counties East Premier Division table following the shock resignation of James Collins.
Collins stunned officials at the Kentish club on Monday when he resigned two years after taking charge at Maidstone Road, pictured.
No mention was made of a successor to Collins in a club statement on Twitter thanking him for his services ahead of hosting bottom of the table Punjab United tonight (Tuesday 1 October).
With 21 points from 11 games to top the table and target a return to the Isthmian League, Chats officials are expected to make an early appointment. After hosting Fisher in the league on Saturday, second-placed Beckenham Town arrive in the first round of The Buildbase FA Vase on Saturday week.

@ChathamTownFC tweeted: “James Collins has resigned as the manager of Chatham Town Football Club.

“The club would like to thank James for all his hard work over the last two years in winning two trophies that were the first silverware that the club has secured in 20 years. We would like to wish James all the best in the future.”

Collins took over from Paul Piggott in September 2017, with the club already battling relegation fears from the Southern Counties East Football League’s Premier Division.

In total, he was in charge for 102 games in all competitions, winning 59 as he guided the club to a cup double last season, masterminding Kent Senior Trophy and Kent Challenge Cup success.
