A SINGLE goal by Matty Chadwick was enough for Ashton to see off Matlock on a soft pitch at Hurst Cross, following persistent rain.
The action opened with Chadwick just failing to connect with Max Cartwright’s deep cross for the hosts before Cleveland Taylor’s throughball saw Marcus Dinanga bring a sharp save out of Luke Pilling in the home goal.
Jack Dyche’s persistence then took him to the by-line where a combination of Barnes and the post kept him out and Chadwick then had a clear run on goal with Barnes making another smart save...
