A RASPING 57th-minute penalty by Lee Beeson was enough to steal the points to maintain Spalding’s bid for promotion.
In a keenly and closely fought contest, clear scoring chances were few and far between with both defences firmly in control.
Both goalkeepers also featured with Spalding’s Michael Duggan doing superbly to turn a deflected shot by Eric Graves past the post after just nine minutes.
Twice in as many minutes Belper’s goalkeeper Scott Law denied the hard-hitting Beeson.
