MATT BLAKE, the league’s leading marksman was the difference as the Suffolk side narrowly edged out hardworking Leatherhead.
Jimmy Bullard’s side are now only out of the drop zone on goal difference after Blake’s goal 17 minutes from time.
Leiston controlled the first half for long spells but Leatherhead frustrated their hosts.
Their best chances both fell to Blake, the first a half-volley over the top the second after the Tanners rearguard blocked his effort.
