■A HARSH red card for Romford’s Ryan Mallett in the 80th minute proved to be the turning point as Maldon rattled in three late goals to give the scoreline a decidedly lopsided look.
Romford took the lead through Ayodeji Olukoga, but Maldon equalised through Sam Newson and went into the break 2-1 ahead when Jerry Kamanzi clipped home a precise shot.
James Ishmail curled in a deserved equaliser for Romford, but Maldon were back in front through Adam Mills. Ten-man Romford went further behind to Mills, Newson and Liam Nash.
