REMEMBER the days when Premier League clubs – who now grumble about their players being unable to play three times a fortnight – didn’t go on exhausting summer tours of Asia playing against clubs you’ve never heard of making money they don’t need?
Instead, what they used to do was stay back home, avoid jet lag and visit their local football clubs, putting something back into the area in the process. It was a simpler time.
