GATESHEAD were dealt their first defeat of pre-season at the hands of a young lively Newcastle side.
First half goals from former Non-League player Yasin Ben El-Mhanni and Victor Fernandez gave the Magpies a comfortable lead going into half time.
Both strikes flew past James Montgomery in the Tynesiders’ net as Newcastle’s youngsters made their mark on the game.
Substitute Dan Ward added another midway through the second half as the Heed struggled to break down an impressive Newcastle back line.
