IN A REMATCH of last season’s Play- Off Semi-Final, Merthyr and Hitchin fought out a creditable draw over 90 minutes.
The home side certainly enjoyed the better of the opening 45 minutes and had the clearer chances to break the deadlock.
After being a thorn in the Martyrs side last season, Canaries keeper Michael Johnson once again thwarted the hosts with a super save to deny Kyle Copp on seven minutes.
Merthyr captain Jarrad Wright headed over Eliot Richards’ right footed cross before a Copp effort found the side netting.
