TWO carbon copy goals from last season’s leading scorer Matt Blake and a Jack Ainsley penalty were enough to see Leiston past hard-working Thurrock.
It took Leiston just a couple of minutes to create their first chance when Regan Pellings through ball sent Blake clean through, but Jake Jessup saved well.
The home side went ahead midway through the half when Blake finished from a tight angle underneath Jessup for his first of the season.
