WORKINGTONextended their unbeaten run to 15 games but had to fight hard.
Nantwich might be low down the table but they proved a handful.
They had the first two strikes on goal in the opening three minutes as keeper Aaron Taylor dealt with shots from Joe Mwasile and Jordan Cole.
But Workington took the lead on five minutes when Dave Symington cut in from the left and fired a strong shot across the keeper Fabian Spiess into the far corner.
Nantwich went close to an equaliser when a free-kick from Sean Cooke came back off the post.
