HONOUR FOR EVANS

THE man who founded Stafford Town 41 years ago has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
Gordon Malcolm Evans, 75, formed the club in 1976 as Stafford after a split with Stafford Southend and they joined the Midland Combination Second Division for the 1977-78 season.
Following a disastrous season in 2003/04, Evans, who by then had retired from his job, returned to the club as chairman, a position he still holds today.
