SUB TOMMY WRIGHT ON CUE TO GIVE U’S A BOOST

SUPERSUB Tommy Wright came off the bench to score twice in the final quarter of an hour to settle a forgettable game on Tyneside.
So low was the fare on the pitch that it would have been entirely fitting if the game had ended goalless.
Wright had other ideas, scoring two contrasting, but equally impressive, goals to keep promotion chasing Sutton in third, six points behind leaders Macclesfield.
Defeat ended a run of four consecutive draws for Gateshead, manager Steve Watson’s honeymoon period firmly over.
