BOWERS & PITSEA kept pace with league leaders AFC Hornchurch as they secured a tight 1-0 win at Waltham Abbey.
Charlee Hughes was the hero as he slotted home a second-half goal in an even contest where both sides had plenty of chances.
But the visitors, who remain 13 points off the pace, kept their cool when it mattered most and extended their lead over third-placed Potters Bar Town.
That’s because they slipped to a shock 1-0 home defeat to bottomhalf side Aveley, who defended for dear life after an early goal.
