NATHAN Hicks earned a second successive man of the match award with a fine display for Biggleswade.
The first half was even but Waders took the lead when a Hicks shot from 30 metres caught visiting keeper Edward Hewitson by surprise.
A Robbie Parker header followed but was well saved by Hewitson.
At the other end Merthyr were attacking at pace down the right flank, mostly dealt with by the home defence.
A corner on 31 minutes was not cleared by the Waders and Corey Jenkins pounced to head home from close range.
