SOUTH SHIELDS lifted the Evo-Stik North Division trophy as champions after running out winners against Colne on home turf.
The hosts’ elation was matched by Colne’s dismay, as their loss meant they missed out on a play-off place, finishing in eighth place – just four points short of Trafford.
The Mariners took the lead after 32 minutes when Lee Mason fired in from close range as Colne failed to clear a corner.
