Newton wants pro sides to dig deeper

DANNY Newton has urged EFL clubs to take a chance on Non-League talent after an award-laden debut season with Stevenage.
Newton, 27, had never played full-time football and was working in an axle factory when he was invited to participate in the inaugural V9 academy last summer.
Set up by England star Jamie Vardy, the programme saw 42 hand-picked Non-League players divided into three teams and pitted against the likes of Bangor City and TNS – all watched by an army of scouts and managers.
