I’D say since the 2010 World Cup, I have been the ultimate England cynic. I don’t do friendlies and have drifted away from any interest in the players. Three major tournaments have been played since then, all ending in a similar gutter of disappointment.
But there is something different about the current group of players heading to Russia next week. They seem to be appreciative of the journey they are about to embark on.
