Help for no reward

I WRITE in response to the letter from Barry Wheway last week (Fans’ Forum, August 12) regarding the need for volunteers at Non-League clubs.
For the last few years, I have visited Wingate & Finchley, so this season decided to put myself forward to volunteer on match days.
However, I was shocked when I was told I had to carry on paying admission to games which in my case is reduced due to being unemployed.
I accept Non-League clubs need the money, but surely if a volunteer gives up their time to help out they shouldn’t be expected to pay at the gate?
