Refs pure in a game of opinions

WHILE understanding the frustrations of ‘home’ reporters, the comments of Neil Speight for the East Thurrock v Wealdstone game were wrong in the extreme.
Suggesting the assistnant referee didn’t flag Jerome Slew off-side for Wealdstone’s winner because the referee had earlier overruled him, was ridiculous. A quick look at the video of the goal later showed Slew to be well on-side when racing through to finish.
Throwaway lines like this in reports breed the general football fans view that officials get most things wrong! DAVID GREEN via email
